Welcome Dr. Atkinson!

Last Thursday, Dr. Atkinson was sworn in as Superintendent for DCSS. She hit the ground running as she toured schools later that same morning and continued on Friday. Click her to view her 90-day entry plan. I am looking forward to working with Dr. Atkinson to improve the educational lives of our students. Please join me in welcoming her to DeKalb! Helping DeKalb's Children
Thank you to Board member Don McChesney for his help in getting the OneSight Foundation to bring their vision screening event to Avondale Middle School. More than 500 children will receive free screenings. Click here for more information on this event.

Congratulations

Congratulations to Hawthorne Elementary School! The Hornet Hustle was a terrific event, successful fundraiser and a wonderful celebration to mark Hawthorne's 50th anniversary.

Thank You

Lt. Governor Casey Cagle visited Vanderlyn Elementary School today in support of Coach Dwyer's health and wellness initiative - Walk Around Georgia. Thank you to Coach Dwyer and Lt. Governor Cagle for your efforts to promote healthy habits and combat childhood obesity.
