Mom With A Calculator - Thank You
To catch up on the recent issues with the DeKalb Board, please read my "Thank You" blog. It was my privilege to serve you on the board. With your support, I was able to uncover the deceptive budgeting practices that plagued the district for many years. Until I brought these matters to light, no SACS report or State Audit alerted the public to these problems and the deficit they created. Along with you, I hope that the new board will be diligent in monitoring spending and academic success for our children.
HB123(Parent and Teacher Empowerment Act)
Tomorrow this bill goes to the State Senate. Please contact the State Senate Education Committee and your State Senator and ask them to vote YES on HB123. Click here to go to the Senate Education and Youth Committee webpage. On that page, you'll find a list of committee members and their email addresses. Click here to read the current version of HB123. Thank you Rep. Lindsey and Rep. Jones for your strong support of children and parents! If you have any questions, please let me know.
Live Board Meeting Comment Feed
I've added a new feature to my website. On my blog, I'll be hosting a live blog comment feed for tomorrow's DeKalb Board meeting. The meeting begins at 6pm and I'll start the live comment feed around 550pm. This live feed will be similar to what the "Patch" website did during the State BOE hearing. I hope you find this interactive forum useful. You can let me know during the live feed.
So Nancy - What are you up to next?
I want to thank everyone who has emailed, called and blogged to express their support for me. I can't thank you enough. I am inspired and energized by your words. Please know that I will remain your advocate and continue to fight for what is in the best interests of children and taxpayers. In order to continue to advocate for you, I have partnered with The Georgia Charter Schools Association. I am working as a consultant and strategist to advocate for charter schools and school choice. I will also be working to develop a board bank of talented and trained citizens to serve on charter school boards throughout our state. Stay tuned for updates on this....
